Lev shot callers6/26/2023 ![]() ![]() After my wife passed on, I thought I would never feel love again until she came along.”īut I was stuck on something he’d said. So when I pursued your mother, it was only natural that he made it a competition.” He shrugged. Fuck knows what he would’ve done to you.” He liked to kick my ass whenever the fuck it suited him. ![]() “Trust me, you’re lucky you never met him. I knew my mother better than anyone, thank you very much. “Clara used to do the same thing when she got a headache.” “Maybe we should start at the beginning.” I can’t tell you how grateful I am that you happened across my path. I didn’t look at Alessio when I asked quietly, “You said you weren’t my father.” I was confused. Lev’s hand covered mine in quiet support, kindly ignoring the way it shook. My body jerked in my chair, causing my knees to hit the table and my cutlery to clink loudly. ![]()

Illumicrate the book eaters6/25/2023 ![]() Dean is a brilliant world-builder, farming out just enough bits of information along the way to help fill in the gaps of Devon’s early years while helping the reader understand her motivation and goals in the present timeline. The narrative structure of the book divides its time between Devon’s past, alternating chapters with present day Devon and Cai on the run. ![]() It’s a patriarchal society full of empty promises and it’s horrifying. ![]() Eater women are used as little more than birthing cows before being forcibly separated from their children and moved onto the next marriage. This process is more vampiric than zombie: the feedings imprint the victims’ personalities upon Cai, so this five-year-old must contend with multiple identities constantly fighting for control of his mind.įemale book eaters are rare, so Devon’s Family-and the other Families of book eaters across modern day United Kingdom-arrange temporary marriages between Houses for procreative purposes. Devon is raising her five-year-old son Cai, who is not a book eater, but a mind-eater: he must sustain himself by feeding on the brains of others. Cowgirl Up and Ride by Lorelei James6/25/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This book was more emotional than most erotic romance and I felt more invested in the characters. The ending where Cord wooed AJ from a distance was particularly touching. Cord learned to love again after his divorce, AJ learned to expect more from a relationship. Pros: The relationship building was really good and both characters grew for having been together. A sub plot is what is happening to Colt, Kade, Kane and Dag, the roommates of the Boar's Nest who are abusing sex, drugs and alcohol for various reasons. Though he feels too old for her and insists that their affair be secret with a finite end of six weeks (when his son Ky returns home), he can't resist the temptation. Plot Summary: Twenty-two year old AJ has been in love with 37 year old Cord since she was 5 years old. It has strong and varied sexual content, as well as character development and emotional pull. Book 3 of the Rough Riders series may be the best so far. ![]()
